Whatever Madeline is doing, she aims to create a safe space for vulnerability and self-reflection, where people are empowered through knowledge, create community through authenticity, show up imperfectly, and change the world for the better.
Madeline lives with her wonderful husband, Allen, and their dog, Maya in Cincinnati, OH. She’s a recovering Virgo perfectionist turned self-improvement addict, proud member of the LGBT+ community, and vegan of more than 10 years.
Madeline is a singer, actress, and dancer currently based in Cincinnati, OH. Born and raised in Manhattan with her parents working on Broadway, Madeline was exposed to amazing theatre at a foundational point in her life. She fell in love with performing early, and began voice lessons at age 10. From age 10-18, she performed in more than 35 productions at French Woods Festival Performing Arts Summer Camp, graduated from LaGuardia High School as a Vocal Major, and went on to study Vocal Performance at Indiana University where she received her Bachelor and Masters of Music.
After college, Madeline performed in regional opera productions in Boston and Los Angeles. Highlights include Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi), Violetta (La Traviata), Lucy (The Telephone), and Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte). She has performed around the world, including New York, Vienna, Florence, Arezzo, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Cincinnati, Dayton, and Indianapolis.
Now, with more than 20 years of performing experience in musical theater, opera, operetta, straight plays, choral work, show choir, pop, chamber music, new music, and jazz, Madeline's love for musical theater has been reignited thanks to a recent production of On the Town in which she played Madame Dilly. Since then, she’s been focusing on musical theater opportunities, but prides herself on her versatility and flexibility of musical genres. Recent roles include Housekeeper (Man of La Mancha), Detective (Clue: The Musical), Lady Carmella (Princess & Frog- World Premiere), Mrs. Cratchit/Ghost of Christmas Past (A Seussified Christmas Carol Tour), Beggar Woman (Sweeney Todd), and Madame Dilly (On the Town).
Madeline's training includes classes in tap, jazz, theater, ballet, and hip hop dance at Steps on Broadway, Indiana University, The Dance Complex, En Pointe Dance & Fitness, and Cincinnati Ballet. She has taken acting and improv courses through Indiana University, and has worked with many incredible voice teachers, coaches, directors, and acting teachers over the years.
She founded the Madeline Stern Vocal Studio (formerly Sing with Madeline) in 2019, teaching singers of all levels and styles online via Zoom. She is certified through the Maddie Tarbox Vocal Studio in Voice Function 101 Evidence Based Voice Pedagogy and Level 2 Mechanics of Mix & Belt, and is a self-professed voice nerd, always striving to continue her education in voice science and performance techniques. She brings this excitement and passion for vocal technique to her ever-growing social media presence. She enjoys creating videos on TikTok (85k+) and Instagram in her spare time.
